How to Perform CPR in 5 Simple Steps

Knowing CPR can mean the difference between life and death — and with CPRWrap, anyone can act fast and confidently. This guide breaks down the basics so you’re prepared for the moments that matter most.

Why CPR Matters

Every year, over 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals in the U.S. — and nearly 90% are fatal when CPR isn’t performed immediately. Prompt action can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. You don’t have to be a medical professional to save a life — just trained and prepared.

That’s where tools like CPRWrap™ make a difference. Designed for everyday people, it offers visual prompts and hand placement guides to make CPR more effective — even for first-time users.

5 Simple Steps To Perform CPR

1. Check Responsiveness

Tap the person and shout, “Are you okay?”
If there’s no response, call 911 immediately or direct someone else to do so.

2. Open the Airway

Tilt the head back and lift the chin to open the airway. Check for normal breathing (not gasping).

3. Begin Chest Compressions

Place your hands in the center of the chest — right over the sternum.
Push hard and fast:

  • Depth: At least 2 inches for adults

  • Rate: 100–120 compressions per minute

  • Let the chest rise fully between compressions

Use CPRWrap™ to guide hand placement and count compressions confidently.

4. Give Rescue Breaths (If Trained)

After every 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths:

  • Pinch the nose shut

  • Seal your mouth over theirs

  • Blow in for 1 second each time, watching the chest rise

If you’re not trained in rescue breaths, continue chest compressions only.

5. Continue Until Help Arrives

Keep performing CPR until medical professionals arrive or the person starts breathing normal
